Day 3, Antonina to Iguacu

9:15 leave Antonina. (hey that is pretty darn early for us!) 

Construction through a little town. 

How to keep cars slow. Have a guy in orange run in front of them with a flag.  Yes, the way they pace the cars was to have a guy run in front of the cars to lead them.  Pretty amazing. 

10:16 659 km to iguacu

Felix, "I sleeped a nap."

11:23 starting the movie Up. (so many great lines from this movie that reflect our own experience. "South America, it is like America only South!" "GPS, with this baby we'll never get lost"  " My knees hurt, my elbows hurt.  And I have to go to the bathroom"  "If you don't hurry the tigers will get you.  "There are no tigers in South America, Zoology."  Plus they were traveling to Paradise Falls and we are traveling to Iguacu Falls.)

After gas and bathroom.

12:32 Jamison defeats stiffling traffic by taking a crazy unknown side road and skips to the end of the work zone.  VICTORY over construction delays on one lane roads.

2:56 in the middle of brazil. Not even half way. Geesh. Dumb construction. Popsicles needed

3:42 halfway. Guarapuava

4:15 potty break

6:00 188 km to Iguaçu

6:36 We're still in brazil?!  Cascavel. They have McDonald's with a playland.  

8:11 on the road.  Groceries. Gas. Cascavel has a great walking path right down the middle of it's main raod. I have never seen so many people out.

Driving into the Sunset

10:00 city of Foz de Iguaçu, Brazil  (we just make it out of the gas station bathrooms before they close down)

10:07 Puerto Iguazu, Argentina!  We think. It is pretty dark and we don't have GPS out of Brazil. We had no problems at the border.  It cost a lot of money for us to get the visas to go to Argentina But you only live once, right.  (we did save 50% by buying them in the US rather than at the border). 

10:29 at hotel. Amazed that Jamison can find his way down dirt roads without GPS.

460 Miles, 12 hours 15 minutes

How did the kids do in the car for so long.  Really well.  We of course stop often for Felix on the side of the road.  And potty breaks and getting gas takes a while to get everyone done.  We watch videos on the iPad.  When Felix and Miles take a nap we listen to music or we let the older kids play with various devices.  The kids did really great.  It is funny that at the McDonalds the kids didn't want to eat they just wanted to run around.  They needed to move more than food.  Our snacks in the car were Apples, Carrots, PB and Honey, and more soy milk and juice (combined) or chocolate milk juice boxes than I care to count.
