The kids were all at school today while Jamison and I packed up for our Carnaval weekend.
It was a very nice way to get ready. We picked them up early from school. Abby and Oliver had already had some Carnaval fun with confetti fights and dancing with their class. Grace missed out since in junior high she had to wait until 3:00 for their party, and I picked them up at 11. I told her I would make it up to her by dressing up for Carnaval and dancing the samba for her. You could imagine she wasn't too enthused about that.
We were worried about the traffic turning a 3 1/2 hour drive to an 8 hour drive. But we left early enough that we had no problem. We left at 12:20 and arrived around 4, and that included about a thirty minute stop to buy a used surf board for Oliver.
The pousada is great, right across the street from the beach. The kids had a swim.
We walked on the beach found a place to eat. Jamison was impressed how friendly everyone was. I think he is still recovering from Germany. But our server at Casa Nossa was super nice and friendly. We had a lovely candlelit dinner for seven on the beach while we watched a thunderstorm out in the distance across the water.

Very lovely.
Jamison had no geckos or cockroaches to fight in our lovely toucan room (don't worry Oliver slept against a wall with no horrible toucans hovering above him). But he did have the best weapon ever against all the mosquitos that were in the room.
Saving your family from all kinds of creatures is serious business! (It is a hand held bug zapper tennis raquet. And it was awesome.)

Sounds like loads of fun. And Jamison stepped up to do his priesthood responsibilities again. Way to go, Jamison. You're the among the best.
