We have had a Merry Little Christmas. There has been no hustle and bustle. Almost all the presents were bought in August. Our Christmas Tree is literally little. No concerts, no school programs, no cookie exchanges, no neighbor gifts, no family parties. It has been a bit depressing at times. But it also doesn't feel a bit like Christmas when we are all in shorts and flip flops.
We had a lovely Christmas party with the church. Simply, but beautifully done. Dinner and the children sang one song. Then lots of hugs and bon natals and feliz natals.
I do miss the special sacrament meeting Christmas program. I miss listening and singing those Christmas hymns. I miss triumphantly playing Joy to the World on the organ. But that will be there when we get back.
We had a lovely Christmas Eve with our friends, the Cahills. They made a great dinner for us. It was our first Christmas of swimming then eating outside on the patio. Afterwards we were entertained by the kids doing charades (Oliver would act out the Avengers everytime if we let him). The Cahills even bought each of our kids a book. It was SO nice and thoughtful and my kids loved them!
When we got home we lit some candles and each chose a song to sing and then took turns blowing out a candle. It was the perfect way to end the day.
