We woke up at a reasonable time, 7:30. Reasonable if you were not up until 1:00 am making orange rolls as a present to your husband. We waited until everyone was awake to open the door to the dining/living room. Felix was the last up, and just screamed NO every time we gave him a good reason to get out of bed. It is time to get up, We can't go until you wake up, NO! Santa came, NO! do you want to see presents, NO!
When he finally decided to get out of bed, it was the usually Christmas frenzy, which was nice that none of the kids were horribly disappointed with a small Christmas.
I spent most the time trying to free toys from their packaging. I loved a hammock from Jamison and the Sweet's Christmas mix from Aunt Bee, that she had to drive out to the factory for! Thanks Bee! Jamison got some herb plants, and a Knex set for a roller coaster, and sunglasses ( and homemade orange rolls for breakfast.)
Only once did someone ( Grace) notice that Santa's handwriting was a lot like Dad's. She got a bigger boogie board, you know, for body surfing, a video game, a pictionary man game, a fancy hat for dress up.
Abby loved her Hello Kitty slippers and a shirt for her webkins.
Oliver loved his avengers lego set.
Felix loved the cars and the Avengers action figures.
Miles loved the Avengers action figures too and his own Hero Factory.
I had fun putting together a marble set with 400 pieces. Really I did. At home we would have a Christmas puzzle to do each holiday. This was kind of the Christmas puzzle for me, but it came with directions and more vertical.
In the afternoon we drove out to some Brazilian friend's house (he is the 2nd counselor in the bishopric and she is the Relief Society president, busy family! But you couldn't tell by how relaxed they were.). This was the same friends house we ate at when we first arrived. It was kind of nice to see I have actually learned a lot of Portuguese since then, but I still have so much to learn!
My friend's whole extended family was there too and they were all so nice and welcoming and fun. Plus the food was just amazing. filet mignon on the grill, so tender and amazing, chicken wrapped in bacon! Oh my, plus our family favorite linguisa. They BBQ-er just made up a nice plate of all meat for Grace and brought it to her table.
Abby borrowed some clothes from the little girl, and went swimming in them. Awesome.
Oliver borrowed some shorts from the little. Oliver went swimming in them.
Grace enjoyed playing the Wii with the nicest boy! They kept playing long after their were both tired because they were both too nice to say they were tired. How cute is that!
Oliver combined two of his top activities, swimming and bey blades. Pretty amazing.
Miles took a nap in the hammock. Felix stuck close to me. I ate and ate and reflected how nice it was to eat such tasty food (bacon wrapped chicken!) and have the kids enjoy themselves too. It was perfectly relaxing ( OK not perfect, perfect would be in a hammock with bacon and chicken.)
I just realized we didn't eat dinner. I hope the kids were OK, they never mentioned it.
We really enjoyed the time to video chat with family from home and hope you all had an enjoyable holiday too!
